halloween is turning out to be a pretty big fail :(
we thought we had it all planned out but within the span of a few hours, all our plans got shot down! terrible how life is sometimes.
now, we are left with little to none options. i DO NOT want to be sitting in our apartment doing nothing on halloween night!
i have a costume to wear! even though it isn't the greatest costume ever
well, i guess there is still some time left to figure it out but not that much time! ahhh, things would be so much easier right now if i had my car down here but next year, at least, i will not have this problem again!
on a different note, i am craving a scrumptious...
mmm, that would be delicious. thinking of food brings me to thanksgiving! and all its delectable delights such as turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. i can't wait!
i am also hoping for my winter break plans to work out, mainly this snowboarding trip that i am trying to plan. it's pretty stressful since we want to go during the holiday period and most places require a 3 night, actually most want a minimum of a 4 night stay! crazy, but it makes sense. i found a couple places that "list" that they only require 2 nights but i need to call them to confirm. oye, i hope this works out in the end because i want to go snowboarding! i've never been before :( and i've been planning to go for quite some time now. it just hasn't worked out where i could go though so this must be the year for it to happen!
mmkay, time for the fun fact of the day:
the only two days of the year where there are no professional sports games (NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL) are the day before and after the Major League all-star game. well, baseball is claimed to be america's past time isn't it? i'm pretty sure my stepdad told me this fact last year!

texas hold 'em
okay, so i feel like i am addicted to play poker on facebook. how funnnnnnnnnnnay
i'm playing right now as a matter of fact! it's an extremely easy way to pass the time, that's for sure. i need to start researching more about studying abroad. i kinda want to go to go to japan but i'm not sure how the biology programs would work there, especially since i don't know how to speak any japanese! fail. it just appears to be such an exciting place to be and i have never traveled to asia before. what a terrible asian person i am! but that will change, whether or not i study abroad in japan or some other asian country or not in asia at all. i am also considering korea, australia, new zealand, maybe italy as well. i also should figure out when exactly i want to go abroad because, honestly, i'm not sure at the moment. do i want to go during the summer time or for a semester during the school year? ah, the decisions of life.
i should sleep soon. i was almost late for class this morning! i set my alarm for 10 PM instead of 10 AM and i woke up at 10:37 AM when i had class at 11 AM. i definitely had a mini-freak out in my mind when i opened my eyes and saw the time on my clock.
anyways, here is today's fun fact of the day!
dueling is legal in paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors. that is so incredibly random. i can't imagine that people would still want to duel in this day and age. how funny! it seems like it would be so intense and scary to watch. i wonder how often it happens there.

one, two, three
okay, it is quite late right now
but i'm not feeling sleepy enough yet so that is the reason for me being awake at such a late hour! tonight was beer pong night. it was really fun actually, except i wish i could have wonnn
but of course, birthday girl, or birthday sex, had to win ! at least i won one game yayyy! halloween is coming up soon & i'm still uncertain on what exactly i will be doing on next saturday night but hopefully it will all be figured out soon. i'm hoping by writing this blog i will start to get more sleepy because it's freaking 3 AM already. whyyyy am i still awake? i'm not buzzed or anything! sheeeeesh
i wish i didn't turn red so easily. i don't like having this super intense asian glow. it sucksss but there is no way to fix it. at least, none that i can think of. i seem to have a low tolerance for holding my alcohol since i end up throwing up half the time! i don't even get super drunk or anything. i feel buzzed and a short time afterwards, it all comes out in not the most graceful way. supaaa lame i must say but thankfully tonight that i did not happen!
okay, i'm getting tired now so it is time for the fun fact of the dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
in 1634, tulip bulbs were a form of currency in holland.
that's pretty strange and random. i guess they had a boatload of tulip bulbs there? it would make sense if they did, unless the bulbs were worth a incredibly large sum.

orange mango motion
sickness overcame my body approximately 4 days ago now. i am still infected but undoubtedly much better than i was on thursday. thursday was absolute misery. i stayed in bed all day, studying for my ochem midterm. the only times i went outside was to go to my 11 AM bio class and to take my ochem midterm at 8 PM. what a glorious day that was! to top it off, saturday, i awoke to a headache that would not leave me! i was still slightly here every now and again today, i mean yesterday now. here's to hoping that today, monday, will be a much better day.
anywho, it's week 4! school seems to be move somewhat quickly i would say. i wish it would pass by even faster, just to thanksgiving and then winter break. it could stall during winter break for a month too. that would be lovely. i don't see that happening though.
on my "to-do" list:
the word "nerd" was first coined by dr. seuss in "if i ran the zoo." how ironic that is! UCSD's library, geisel, is named after dr. seuss himself and our school is full of nerds! maybe he predicted that future for this campus in la jolla way back in the day.

on my "to-do" list:
- GET HALLOWEEN COSTUME - CLOTHES, PROPS
- FIND OUT WHAT I'M DOING FOR HALLOWEEN
- START & FINISH POLI SCI PAPER THAT'S DUE A WEEK FROM TODAY
- GET MORE SLEEP
- CALL ABOUT VOLUNTEERING
- & of course, HAVE FUN

progression
first midterm coming up technically tomorrow now. and it's for OCHEMMM
i'm slightly worried, only slightly because the practice midterm wasn't too hard but i'm sure the actual exam will be tougher. i should study right now. i've just been so lazy lately.
this is no bueno
anywho, i need some excitement in my life! that is what i have decided.
not that there's anything terribly wrong with my life right now. i'm not being emo or anything but it could be better. i am content at the moment though.
i desire a good quality camera, like those cool people with nikons and cannons. i know i wouldn't be the most technologically knowledgeable in using them i wouldn't mind learning. i want to capture to be able to capture those special moments in life with something more than just my scratched and old sony camera. i found this picture. it's so cute!

maybe one day, it will belong to me! and i won't have to take these beautiful photographs off of the internet.
anywho, time for today's fun fact of the day!
only male turkeys gobble. i wonder if it's some sort of mating call for them? that would make sense since females don't make that strange noise. at least , real human men don't gobble when they want to attract a lady friend. i would immediately classify them as a weirdo for sureee.

color sensation
this week is almost half way over! kinda
well, seemingly my entire apartment except for myself is deciding to rush for a sorority this quarter. it's cool that they are all deciding to join such organizations and they are all doing different ones, but i don't know if that is something that i would enjoy. i never really saw myself as a sorority girl. i am going to an event tomorrow night. it's korean bbq! mmm, yummy. that's basically the reason why. it's good to meet some new people too.
anyways, school work is never ending it feels like. well, i guess i do much more work than other people do but it's better for me this way. i need to constantly be working on understanding the concepts somewhat before midterms and then finals roll around. i'm not a crammer. i have to study gradually! i wish i was a natural genius who didn't have to study at all. it would make life so much easier for sure, at least i think so.
i'm joining more pre-med/health clubs this year! that is what i have decided on. i'm gonna join PASS and AMSA here on campus. i also would like to find a job as a lab assistant. i should start searching for that position more! i need to get some work experience one of these days and achieving that in the lab atmosphere would be perfect!
to end, here's today's fun fact of the dayyy:
i learned in BILD 2 last week that the surface area of your small intestine (i think it was only the small and not both the small and large intestines) is equivalent to a tennis court. that's insane don't cha think? these tubes inside your body, if laid flat, would cover the base of a tennis court! i never would have imagine it to be so big.

vacancy
sooo, i still have been failing at blogging.
the second week of classes begins today! how NOT exciting.
i wish i had less hw to do, especially reading.
i will attempt to blog more; however, i don't know how well that will turn out but i will try anways!
this past weekend was a good one. two birthday celebrations! how fun
kelsey's was goooooooood - the best part was when we were at downtown disney on saturday. we didn't realize it was gay pride day there. if you were a homosexual, you would wear red and unknowingly, poor little masashi decided to put on a red shirt! it was incredibly funny because he was so uncomfortable and a couple guys actually checked him out. it seriously made my night. i made her a picture frame! i was feeling artsy i guess. i painted it and decorated it with stickers and such. it turned out pretty cute :)
grace's was also swell - dinner at cpk! yayy, i love food. nick also came at midnight with a quite delectable cake i must say. she also enjoyed her princess themed gifts (for the most part)!
the apartment is starting to look more and more like it's a real apartment, where people actually live. this is due to a stocked kitchen and somewhat decorated living room. it still needs so work to rid itself of those boring white walls!
anyways, i should get some sleeptime in soon. class at 10! i'm so happy i am finally enrolled in my tu/th 11 am bio class. i was scared i wouldn't be able to get in and have to go back to the m/w 7:30 am class. who in their right mind creates a 7:30 am class?! no college student wants to wake up that early...well not any that i know of. but thankfully, i do not have to worry about that!
okay, today's fun fact of the day:
the year that reads the same upside down is 1961. that won't happen again until 6009! that is such a far time from now. i can't imagine what life will be like then. will that millennium be the one where we have cars that fly and wear strange space suits and fight away vicious aliens from planet earth? who knows, only time will tell.
